Dr. Jekyl and Miss Hyde!

or PMS at age 3? Given our bizarre medical history of the kids, I wouldn't be surprised. This past week has been the biggest roller coaster ride of our lives with our little Megster. The week before she was at her grandparents in Kentucky and had the best time. She became completely potty trained. She never cried. Never disobeyed. She did lots of fun things. Fast forward one week and I can't find my Megan. I don't know who this child is? She is happy one minute and then a complete train wreck the next. For the non parents, she might be looked upon as spoiled. For the parents, pure manipulation. She thinks she has us wrapped around her little finger (okay maybe a little). Her brother has now picked up on her crazy tantrums. She has completely regressed on her pooping in the potty. It's like we have had Noah all over again. We can't figure it out. Was the transition from Grammy's to home that big of a change? Last night, the devil was in our house...in Megan. I was ready for an exorcist. After Megan went to bed, she popped up with "I need to go potty!" This is normal in an effort to delay the inevitable. When Megan got on the potty, pee did NOT come out, but the devil did. I had to be in the same spot I always sit in when I wait for her. Sitting on the tub in front of her, legs uncrossed. The slightest alteration from this sparked the possessed girl. Now, she didn't have her ears on, and trying to put them on was like trying to build a house with one arm. She's flailing about, covering her head with her arms and moving her head around in circles. Not exactly cooperating. This possession went on for at least 30 minutes. Here's a little glimpse into that 30 minutes. Megan: "I need to go potty!" Mommy: (motioning for her to "go then!"). Megan: "I don't need to go potty!" This went back and forth a good 4 times. Finally, after getting Brandon to hold her down and us forcing one "ear" on, I was able to firmly tell her we are not putting up with this (inside I'm praying that this talk works) and she needs to "get back in bed and go to sleep". To my surprise, after that, she put her panties on and we went back to bed. Of course it was still met with some manipulation just on the way back to her room: Mommy: (carrying Megan back to her bed) Megan: "I want to walk!" Mommy: (putting Megan down to walk) Megan: "CARRY, CARRY" Once in bed, yet more manipulation: Mommy: (covering Megan up with the brown blanket she uses EVERY night) Megan: "I don't want brown blanket!" I gave in a little and rocked her in her bed WITH the brown blanket on. and we were all off to bed happily ever after :) And she is only 3! I thought this emotional, crazy, PMS stuff started around 11, 12 or 13 even. But through all of this, I still love you Megan!
