Rude Awakening!
Picture This...I'm rocking my little Megan for her afternoon nap. Noah just woke up from his nap and everyone has eaten lunch. Noah is playing with Megan's toys, while Brandon is in the garage cleaning the van. As Megan slowly drifts to sleep, Noah walks over to us, toy in hand, then....
WHACK!!!! right on Megan's head.
Megan wakes up, freaked out by what just happened, so I'm trying to calm her while trying to defer another WHACK! from Noah.....but to no avail...here comes another one. I'm desperate for a nap from Megan and also desperate for Noah to go away. I'm seething with anger at this point as Brandon can't hear my shrill screams for help as he is running the vacuum in the van (keep in mind, I asked him to check on me in 5 mins...it was 4 min and 50 sec :)) I, somewhat harshly, exclaim to Noah to "Go Away!", which is met with a look and followed by tears that made me feel horrible. OMG, "How could I have just said that to him, I thought". I managed to put Megan in her bed and amazingly she went to sleep. Now off to deal with Noah. He is now crying harder and the tears are just a flowing. It's the look that I thought only girls gave (namely Megan) of "You hurt my feelings" look. I felt so bad. Thankfully, he's a boy and quickly calmed down and all is well. No longer angry with him, more at myself for getting so angry. Don't mess with naptime!

Do you have to rock Megan every time for naps and bedtime? And Noah too? I can't imagine! We read a couple books and throw ours in their beds. Also, I wouldn't feel bad about yelling at Noah. He was, after all, hitting his sister over the head with a toy. It's called discipline. Kids cry. Don't feel bad :)
No, I don't HAVE to rock her. I ENJOY rocking her. I actually wish I could rock Noah, but he won't let me anymore. He just gets tossed in his crib.
...and it wasn't that I disciplined him...it was the WAY I said it..
Yeah I didn't mean have to like it's a chore, I was just wondering if she needed or relied on it in order to fall asleep. I obviously wouldn't be able to rock 2 babies to sleep at the same time and luckily, they don't need me to. We all speak harshly to our kids out of frustration from time to time. You just gotta tell yourself nobody's perfect and you'll do better tomorrow!
Megan does rely on rocking, but I don't always rock her until she's asleep, especially at night.
Good point about Noah.
